typed Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: 2026-05-11

1. Acceptance

By using typed (the "Service," operated by Yaw Labs LLC, "we," "us"), you agree to this Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP"). This AUP is incorporated by reference into the typed Terms of Service (typed.cloud/terms). Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account, with no refund of fees paid for the suspended or terminated period.

If you are using typed on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to this AUP and the Terms of Service.

2. Prohibited Content and Uses

You may not use typed to:

2.1 Safety-critical and regulated domains

  • Operate or control nuclear facilities, air traffic control systems, life-support systems, weapons systems, or other safety-critical infrastructure where failure could cause death, personal injury, or severe environmental damage.
  • Develop, modify, or deploy military weapons systems.
  • Process data subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or similar export-controlled regimes.
  • Process Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA or comparable health-data regulations. typed has no Business Associate Agreement available and has not been certified for healthcare use.

2.2 Illegal, harmful, or abusive content

  • Generate CSAM (child sexual abuse material) or any content that sexualizes minors.
  • Generate content depicting non-consensual sexual acts or content intended to harass, threaten, or intimidate identifiable individuals.
  • Generate content inciting violence, terrorism, or hate against protected groups.
  • Generate defamatory content about identifiable individuals or organizations.
  • Generate fraudulent identification documents, forgeries, or content intended to deceive in financial transactions.

2.3 Election integrity and political manipulation

  • Generate content for disinformation campaigns targeting elections, political candidates, public officials, or referenda.
  • Generate impersonations of public officials, candidates, or news organizations intended to deceive.
  • Operate coordinated inauthentic behavior on social platforms.

2.4 Spam, malware, and abuse

  • Generate spam, phishing content, or unsolicited bulk communications.
  • Generate, distribute, or instruct on the use of malware, ransomware, exploit code, or vulnerability weaponization for unauthorized access.
  • Conduct unauthorized scanning, intrusion attempts, or denial-of-service activity against third-party systems.

2.5 Account and key abuse

  • Buy, sell, transfer, or otherwise distribute typed API keys to third parties.
  • Share account credentials across multiple users or organizations beyond the original account holder.
  • Circumvent rate limits, quota policies, or abuse-prevention measures.
  • Create multiple accounts to evade suspension, exhaust trial benefits, or otherwise game the Service.

3. Flow-down Restrictions from Upstream Model Providers

typed routes inference through third-party model providers (described in our Privacy Policy at typed.cloud/privacy). Their terms of service impose additional restrictions that flow through to your use of typed. You agree:

3.1 No reverse engineering of model behavior

You will not attempt to:

  • Derive, extract, or reconstruct the weights, training data, training corpus, or architectural details of any underlying AI model accessible via typed.
  • Systematically probe or interrogate the Service to characterize, fingerprint, or reverse-engineer the underlying models.
  • Use the Service to generate datasets intended for training competing AI models, with or without subsequent modification.

3.2 No competing-model derivation

You will not use typed outputs as training data, fine-tuning data, distillation targets, or evaluation feedback for any AI model intended to compete with the underlying model providers or with typed itself. "Distillation" specifically includes using typed outputs to train a smaller or differently-priced model that approximates typed's capabilities.

3.3 No competing-application development without authorization

You will not use the Service to develop or operate applications with "potential competitive possibilities" against the underlying model providers (a phrase incorporated from Moonshot AI's platform terms of service). This restriction is on competing with the underlying model providers' own products, not on building general SaaS applications that use typed as an inference backend -- the latter is permitted under the integrated-application use posture described in our compliance documentation.

If you are uncertain whether a planned use falls within this restriction, contact support@typed.cloud before proceeding.

3.4 Reservation of additional restrictions

Upstream provider terms may be updated by the upstream providers from time to time. We reserve the right to add or refine flow-down restrictions in this AUP to reflect such updates with reasonable notice (typically 30 days for material additions; see §7 below).

4. Account and Service Use Restrictions

You may not:

  • Use the Service in a manner that overloads or unduly burdens our infrastructure (subject to the rate limits and quota policies described in our Terms of Service and pricing pages).
  • Attempt to disable, interfere with, or circumvent the Service's security features, abuse-prevention measures, or service-availability mechanisms.
  • Use the Service to host, transmit, or process any content for which you do not hold all necessary rights (including intellectual property, privacy, and consent rights).
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any underlying system without our prior written authorization. (Security researchers: contact security@typed.cloud for coordinated disclosure.)
  • Misrepresent the source of content generated through the Service. If a regulatory, professional, or platform context requires disclosure of AI-generated content (e.g., academic submissions, legal filings, certain content platforms), it is your responsibility to comply.

5. Cooperation with Abuse Response

If we receive an abuse report concerning your account or your Application -- from a third party, an underlying model provider (OpenRouter Inc., MiniMax, DeepSeek, or Moonshot AI PTE. LTD.), a regulator, a court, or our own monitoring -- we will:

  • Investigate the report.
  • May suspend your account, specific API keys, or specific endpoints within 24 hours of receiving the report (or sooner if the strictest applicable upstream provider's terms specify a shorter SLA).
  • May permanently terminate your account for material or repeated violations.
  • May share information about your account and use with upstream providers, law enforcement, or other third parties as required by their terms or by law.

Suspensions and terminations under this section do not entitle you to a refund of fees paid for the affected period.

If you believe a suspension or termination is in error, you may appeal by emailing support@typed.cloud within 30 days of the action. We will respond within 5 business days.

6. Reporting Violations

To report a suspected violation of this AUP by a typed customer or by content generated through typed, email abuse@typed.cloud. We treat abuse reports as confidential to the extent permitted by law. Include:

  • The account or content at issue (URLs, screenshots, identifiers as applicable).
  • A description of the violation.
  • Your contact information (we may need to follow up).

Anonymous reports are accepted but may limit our ability to follow up or notify you of the outcome.

7. Enforcement

We may enforce this AUP through any combination of:

  • Warning the customer.
  • Restricting access to specific features.
  • Throttling or reducing service quality.
  • Suspending the account or specific API keys.
  • Terminating the account permanently.
  • Cooperating with law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

We exercise enforcement discretion based on the severity of the violation, the customer's response, prior history, and applicable upstream provider requirements. We are not required to provide notice or an opportunity to cure before enforcement action, particularly for §2.2 (CSAM, etc.) violations or §3 flow-down violations that expose us to upstream provider liability.

8. Updates

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes (new prohibited categories, tightening of flow-down clauses to reflect upstream provider updates) will be notified to active customers via email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, except where upstream provider terms require faster compliance.

Non-material changes (clarifications, formatting, contact info updates) are reflected in this document with an updated effective date.

The current version is always available at typed.cloud/aup. Past versions are kept on request; email privacy@typed.cloud.
